Stolen Idea: MVP Arena!!!
What is MVP? well it means Most Valuable Player.
---------------------------------------
In RO (ragnarok online), an MVP is a type of monster thats basically a boss monster.
So theres a place called an MVP arena in the RO server i am in, where only bosses spawn.
Theres the thing with MVPs, the player with the highest dmg gets the XP/Items from the boss.
-------------------------------------
My version of the MVP arena for GW is basically a PVE arena where you can battle a SUPER STRONG versions of a boss (and their support mob of course) for their green items.
With each 5 wins, you spawn a stronger and stronger MVP boss. Like the first 5 battles will be a regular strength boss. Next 5 will be 5 lvls stronger. Next 5 even stronger, etc.
They will also drop green items at certain percentages (but way lower than green farming). With the higher lvl bosses dropping their rarest greens more often.
The bosses can cycle and be random, anywhere from a Stone Summit, to Charr, to whatever and different mobs.
Heres the kicker: You can only have a party of 6, theres no keg, and multiple bosses can spawn on the same map.
Why? I want something HARD and rewarding and fun for PVE. ^_^

Hmmm most dmg?
If most dmg eles would win....
If it was split into classes certain types would also win e.g hammer warrior cos of much higher dmg :S

I don't think Lyra_Song is proposing Guild Wars copies that 'most damage' idea. That obviously wouldn't work.

Indeed. The "most damage" part their talking about is from RO. They stated below the Guild Wars version of the MVP.
And as to their post; this sounds fun. Being able to take on bosses like glint just higher levels. I always love bigger challenges then a level 30 Boss.

I don't follow the logic here. Shouldn't MVP be players instead of monsters? Anyway, if by *valuable* players you mean super efficient farmers, I know a couple of chinese slaves that would be delighted by your suggestion.

Ouch. Methinks you'll have to learn how to play without healing backup.

If by strong you mean intelligent, then it might be exciting. If by stronger you mean a monster that is cheating even more than current bosses already are, I fail to see where the challenge would be. Bosses are easy to kill only because their skill bar sucks and because their AI can be exploited. More dmg/hp/energy/levels won't add much challenge.
However if the MVP looks like a boss-only version of the best SF mobs, it might be challenging. Take a full group of 8 well designed lvl28 bosses from all professions and with good synergistic skill bars. Add an AI that is less predictable, able to see beyond the aggro bubble, to pick targets, to position and to run away as it should, to fire focus properly, and to interrupt and to resurrect correctly, and you'll obtain a boss group that can be defeated by less than 1% of players.

Every gaming AI can be beaten by human players, and once they get the hang of it it would just be like normal farming, only faster.

No...I do like the idea but the most damage thing must be removed sinco NO monks would ever want to join for this since they do no damage, and from what I understand you cant do anything without a monk...But if you change it to maybe random drop?
/signed anyway

The idea is to basically give PVErs something uber hard to build for (so they have something else to do).
a party of 6 vs 3-4 stone summit bosses (and their goons) would be really fun :P

If you read carefully, you would realize that they were just saying how RO works when talking about doing the most damage, they didnt mention it in their idea for Guild Wars.
Fighting a level 70 boss would be challenging, even with the same ai and skillset. But, I do agree with you on the fact that they should give them good skillsets and have them know how to use their skills.
I think this arena idea would be cool, I've always enjoyed fighting Glint, but I don't want to have to go through the whole mission to do it.

Gee... threads like this serve to show just how often people actually read a thread before they post.
Seriously though, I'm with you on this idea Lyra. Mind you, if they can buff the AI as well that is always good.
